Date: 5 September 2026
Time: 10:00am
Venue: Tauhara Power Station
Cost: $19 — confirms attendance
This technical visit offers a guided look at the Tauhara geothermal power station, giving attendees a practical, first‑hand perspective of one of New Zealand’s major geothermal projects. The session focuses on plant layout, key equipment, and operational considerations, helping participants connect regulatory and engineering discussions with real‑world plant conditions.
The visit complements the workshop by grounding concepts in lived practice — an opportunity to see systems in context, ask questions of those involved in the project, and deepen understanding of geothermal plant operation and equipment performance.
Minimum PPE is required for all attendees: a high‑visibility vest, a hard hat (some will be available if you don’t have your own), ear protection, covered‑in shoes, and full wrist‑to‑ankle body covering. Please note that the site involves significant walking distances and multiple stairways, including grille‑type stairs and floors, which some people may find unnerving.
The $19 fee is simply to confirm attendance and manage numbers. Attendees will make their own way to the site; details on meeting points, timing, and PPE arrangements will be provided closer to the date. Parking on site is limited, so we will look to organise car‑pooling nearer the time — otherwise the walk from parking areas may be longer.
Join us for an insightful behind‑the‑scenes look at one of the country’s most significant geothermal developments.
